MINSK, 4 June (BelTA) - Belarusian specialists are actively working to introduce meat products to the Qatari market. The prospects for agricultural cooperation were discussed during negotiations between Belarusian Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Ivan Smilgin and a delegation from Qatar, which arrived in Minsk to participate in the opening of the international specialized exhibition Belagro 2025, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.

In 2024, the trade in food and agricultural products between the two countries doubled compared to 2023. Belarusian exports primarily consisted of condensed milk and cream, milk whey, cottage cheese and cheeses, as well as fish products.

According to the ministry, Belarus is currently actively working to enter the market of Qatar with its meat products. The country has already completed accreditation for Halal certificates, which opens up opportunities for meat supplies. Some technical issues still need to be addressed, including the approval of veterinary certificates and the inspection of Belarusian enterprises by the Qatari side. Following the negotiations, operational procedures to coordinate the work of veterinary agencies were developed to establish poultry meat exports to Qatar.

"Belarus has significant export potential and is ready to strengthen cooperation with Qatar in agriculture," Belarus’ Agriculture and Food Ministry summarized.
