MINSK, 13 September (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia’s Orenburg Oblast are set to develop exchange trade in agricultural products. These issues were discussed at the Menovoi Dvor exhibition forum, which took place in Orenburg on 10-12 September, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE).

According to the press service, mutual supplies of agricultural products should become a strategic vector for the development of exchange trade between Belarus and Orenburg Oblast to ensure high positive dynamics in trade and a broader application of the exchange mechanism in export-import activities.

According to BUCE, currently, Belarus sells to Orenburg Oblast only products of its woodworking industry through the exchange, with transaction volumes increasing by 34% compared to January-August 2024. However, the agricultural segment remains completely untapped, despite the fact that both Belarus and Orenburg Oblast have something to offer each other. In particular, there is demand on the Belarusian market for sunflower oil and meal, as well as for cereals such as wheat and barley. In turn, Orenburg consumers are interested in purchasing dairy products and feed additives of Belarusian origin.

Meetings were held on the sidelines of the Menovoi Dvor exhibition forum with representatives of leading agricultural enterprises of Orenburg Oblast regarding accreditation with BUCE and placing bids for the purchase and sale of agricultural products on the exchange trading system.

Negotiations were conducted with the leadership of the Orenburg Oblast Export Support Center and the regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry. As a result, agreements were reached to assist BUCE in establishing contacts with small and medium-sized businesses in the region to attract them to the exchange platform.

As of 11 September 2025, 15 companies from Orenburg Oblast were accredited with BUCE - two more than at the beginning of the year.

The public joint-stock company (OAO) Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange was established in 2004, with its first trading session conducted in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest mercantile exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its key function is to assist Belarusian companies with exporting their products and assist foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. The commodity exchange facilitates trade in metals, timber, agricultural products, and a broad choice of industrial and consumer goods.
