Belarus, Russia’s Ivanovo Oblast sign 2022-2024 cooperation advancement plan

MINSK, 6 April (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia’s Ivanovo Oblast have signed an action plan on advancing cooperation in 2022-2024, BelTA learned from Marina Vaskevich, Press Secretary of the Belarusian state light industry concern Bellegprom.

Bellegprom Chairwoman Tatiana Lugina is a co-chairperson of the working group on cooperation between Belarus and the Russian region. Tatiana Lugina and Deputy Chairwoman of the Ivanovo Oblast Government Yulia Vasilyeva signed the joint action plan at a session of the working group.

The document outlines a number of measures and projects meant to increase bilateral trade turnover, invigorate R&D cooperation and cultural cooperation, realize mutually beneficial projects in the social sphere, in agribusiness, and other areas.

Yulia Vasilyeva stressed that in the current conditions it is necessary to take manufacturing cooperation ties of Belarusian enterprises and Ivanovo Oblast ones to a brand new level.

Tatiana Lugina remarked that in 2021 Belarus’ trade with Russia’s Ivanovo Oblast was close to $106 million, 114.2% as against 2020. Individual government agencies and concerns reported a multifold increase in export to Ivanovo Oblast. The Belarusian state light industry concern Bellegprom reported a 144% export growth rate while the Belarusian timber, woodworking, pulp and paper industry concern Bellesbumprom reported a 133% export growth rate. Enterprises run by the Architecture and Construction Ministry and the Belarusian state food industry concern Belgospishcheprom increased their export by 2.6 times and 2.3 times respectively.

The Bellegprom head expressed confidence in future effective cooperation. She invited Russian partners to personally participate in the work of the nearest major forums – the Belagro expo and the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia.
