Belarus, Russia’s Chuvashia to aim for tighter manufacturing cooperation

MOSCOW, 23 June (BelTA) – Belarus and the Chuvash Republic of the Russian Federation will aim for tighter manufacturing cooperation, including cooperation between manufacturers of special footwear, agricultural machines, road construction machines, and municipal vehicles. The relevant agreement was reached during the session of the working group in charge of expanding scientific, technical, trade, economic and cultural ties between Belarus and Chuvashia in the city of Cheboksary, the press service of the Embassy of Belarus in Russia told BelTA.

Mikhail Ignatyev, Acting Governor of Chuvashia, said during the session: “Belarus is a strategic partner of Chuvashia. In the last three years the bilateral trade turnover has increased by 150%. Tighter partnerships have been established between enterprises in Chuvashia and Belarus.” He said they were ready to take further steps to advance mutually beneficial constructive relations.

The Belarusian delegation was led by Industry Minister Vitaly Vovk. He also stated the readiness of the Belarusian side for expanding trade and economic relations with Chuvashia. He said that conditions had been enabled for bolstering trade relations and said he was confident that all the sketched out plans would be implemented in the near future.

Apart from manufacturing cooperation agriculture was mentioned during the session as a promising avenue of bilateral cooperation. The sides discussed the acquisition of machines as well as cooperation in science, pedigree cattle husbandry, seed farming, and the selection of agricultural crops. “The potential for cooperation in agriculture is huge: I see both strategic and tactical prospects. Chuvashia sees Belarus as a reliable and profitable partner,” stressed Mikhail Ignatyev.
