MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia’s Buryatia intend to develop cooperation in industry and agriculture, Chairman of the State Committee for Science and Technology (SCST) Sergei Shlychkov told the media as he welcomed a delegation of Russia’s Buryatia in Minsk on 17 May, BelTA has learned.

Sergei Shlychkov noted the importance of Belarusian-Russian cooperation in the field of trade, economy, science and socio-cultural affairs. "Together with representatives of Buryatia, we will outline the priority points of contact in industry, agriculture, healthcare, science, innovation, exhibition and fair activities and other areas," said Sergei Shlychkov. “The program of stay of the delegation of Buryatia is quite packed. The day is scheduled literally by the minute. During the visit, the delegation will visit the Belarusian industrial giants - MTZ and MAZ mechanical engineering companies. In addition, some representatives of the delegation wished to hold meetings in the Sport and Tourism ministry and the Healthcare Ministry. We are thinking about including other items into our introductory program. Representatives of Buryatia will also take part in the international business forum Brest 2022.

In 2021, the trade between Belarus and Buryatia made up $8.7 million. Belarus exported 77 commodity items, including mechanical engineering goods and food.
