MINSK, 10 October (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia are working out a cooperation program on airport equipment, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Parkhomchik said as he met with Governor of Russia's Novosibirsk Oblast Andrei Travnikov in Minsk on 10 October, BelTA has learned.
Belarus and Russia signed a roadmap on machine-tool industry development in Minsk in September 2023. “We have a task to develop our own machine tools and equipment with the contribution of both the Belarusian and Russian sides. This program has been approved. We are also working out another interesting program, which concerns the issues of providing our airports with different types of equipment. This includes both cargo and passenger transportation equipment. We have an agreement with [Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Denis] Manturov that we will prepare such a program and decide on who will perform certain duties. We have already taken over the issues of passenger transportation at airports. Tests are being finalized at Pulkovo in St. Petersburg. Besides, BelAZ has developed a whole line of truck tractors for airports. This topic is interesting for us, and we will be working in this direction,” Piotr Parkhomchik said.
According to him, cooperation in microelectronics also requires system control. “We have established very good relations with your enterprises. They are actively cooperating with Belarusian Planar and Integral. We have ambitious plans. Our enterprises are currently loaded above their capabilities: Planar grew 1.7 times in terms of production volumes last year, and 1.8 times this year. The same positive dynamics is observed at Integral. Cooperation with Russia has given an impetus to the development of our enterprises and increase in production,” the deputy prime minister said.
He also suggested developing cooperation in the elevator industry through Belarusian Mogilevliftmash. “Let us continue cooperation and ensure the replacement of all elevators that have served their time,” the deputy prime minister said.
Another important area is agriculture. “We have established friendly contacts and need to continue our cooperation. We are ready to offer works related to dairy farms, we can do them on a turnkey basis, supply equipment,” Piotr Parkhomchik stressed.
Air transportation remains relevant as well. “Today we do not have free aircraft to organize transportation, but we are ready to discuss this issue with any Russian airline, which is ready to take on this mission,” the deputy prime minister said.
The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is also actively developing cooperation with Novosibirsk Oblast.
