Belarus-Russia trade recovering

Belarus-Russia trade recovering

MINSK, 28 April (BelTA) – Belarus-Russia trade is recovering after the peak of the pandemic. Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin made the statement as he met with Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko, BelTA has learned.

Mikhail Mishustin said: “On the whole, our trade and economic cooperation develops successfully. Now after the peak of the pandemic situation we are trying to increase the mutual trade turnover. It dropped earlier but we are glad we registered an increase in February and March.”

An intergovernmental agreement on exporting Belarusian oil products via Russian ports was prepared and signed promptly. Mikhail Mishustin noted that its execution is ahead of schedule. “Apart from that, the first unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant has reached its full output capacity. The construction of the second unit proceeds in normal mode. We expect its physical launch soon,” he added.

Mikhail Mishustin also said he hopes that transportation links between Belarus and Russia will be fully restored as the epidemic situation gets back to normal. In his words, Belarusian and Russian citizens can already freely move between several cities of Russia and Minsk.
