Belarus ready to discuss prospects of cooperation with African countries without restrictions

Belarus ready to discuss prospects of cooperation with African countries without restrictions

MINSK, 31 May (BelTA) – The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is ready to discuss the broadest choice of questions without any exemptions and restrictions in cooperation with African countries. Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei made the statement as he met with heads of diplomatic missions of African countries during the second Belarusian-African Economic Forum on 31 May, BelTA has learned.

Vladimir Makei said: “I would like to emphasize the role of ambassadors and diplomats of African countries in the development of bilateral contacts. You are not only conductors of interests of your countries. You also shape conceptual and practical approaches towards Belarus. I address those present with a proposal to more actively get involved in the development of bilateral ties. Feedback, reciprocal steps, and initiatives are extremely important. I can assure you that in turn the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs will do its best to work on promoting a different-level political dialogue and on deepening the trade and economic contacts. We are open to communication about the broadest choice of questions without any exemptions and restrictions.”

Vladimir Makei suggested thinking together and defining what joint steps were necessary for stepping up manufacturing cooperation, what projects should be implemented together. “We are ready to hear out your opinion and discuss your vision of ways of development of cooperation with Belarus,” the minister of foreign affairs noted.

Vladimir Makei said he was confident that as a result of the forum, meetings, and negotiations new directions and forms of manufacturing cooperation will be determined. They allow invigorating interaction between Belarus and African countries and will make a significant contribution to the economies of the countries.

Vladimir Makei went on saying: “We see that countries of the African continent have everything necessary for them to confidently move forward along the way of social and economic development and scientific and technological advance. Belarus welcomes this process and is intent on facilitating its acceleration. Our country genuinely supports the pan-African desire for unity, sustainable development, and collective wellbeing.”

Vladimir Makei also noted that Belarus is interested in balanced approaches to cooperation with African countries instead of unilateral gains.
