Belarus' PM urges Belresursy company to increase investments in production
DZERZHINSK DISTRICT, 1 November (BelTA) – The Belresursy holding company need to increase investments in production, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said at a meeting to discuss the performance of the Belresursy holding company on 1 November, BelTA has learned.
"Belresursy is a diverse group of companies operating in various areas, from collecting secondary raw materials to manufacturing consumer goods. I would like to know whether this structure is justified in the current conditions. There are certain questions about the development strategy, especially investment policy. According to this strategy, further investment development does not have much prospect. We see a reduction in the funds earmarked for investments," Roman Golovchenko noted.
The meeting discussed the work of enterprises, production and sales of goods. "A quick analysis showed that the enterprises that manufacture consumer goods, in particular, Barhim, Borisov plastic products plant, for some reason have not yet mastered the online trade and marketplaces. Instead of them their goods are sold online by individual entrepreneurs with significant markups compared to the selling price of the manufacturer. Does the managing company of the holding company not notice this?" the prime minister said.
"I would like to understand the prospects for the holding company, the expediency of maintaining such a structure. Whether will the companies be better off on their own or as part of more appropriate state structures," Roman Golovchenko stated.
The Belresursy holding company was established in January 2014. It includes trade and industrial organizations engaged in wholesale and retail trade of metal, chemical, rubber and technical products, construction materials, manufacturing of industrial products and consumer goods, plastics, film, synthetic detergents, cardboard packaging, collecting and processing of secondary raw materials, procurement of goods and services, and logistics services. The holding company includes the managing company Belresursy, Barhim, Belvtorpolimer, Belhim, Medplast and others.
