MINSK, 14 May (BelTA) - By 2027 Belarus plans to organize the production of tractors in Zimbabwe, Belarusian Industry Minister Aleksandr Yefimov told the media in Minsk, BelTA learned.

"All projects, including projects to set up assembly plants in Zimbabwe, are already underway. We plan to launch the tractor facility by 2027 and a little later – that of trucks and passenger vehicles," Aleksandr Yefimov said.

He said that the idea is to sell jointly manufactured products not only on the domestic market in Zimbabwe but in the long term to neighboring countries. "The advantage of our cooperation that we offer to our partners is that we train specialists in both machinery maintenance (if it is the sale of finished products) and in assembly operations, other industrial and technological operations. Our specialists are ready for long trips for qualitative transfer of competencies to our partners," the minister noted.

In general, the Industry Minister views the cooperation with Zimbabwe as strategic. "We see Zimbabwe as one of the key countries on the African continent in terms of export diversification and export development strategy. We have quite great plans and we have been implementing them quite successfully," he noted.
