RIGA, 5 November (BelTA) – Belarus plans to expand its presence on the agro-industrial market of China. Cooperation between the two countries in a number of promising areas, including the agro-industrial complex, were discussed at the meeting between Belarus’ Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov and Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Li Keqiang in Riga on 5 November, BelTA has learned.

“We hope that this year we will be able to complete the procedure for beef access. Besides, the creation of joint companies in China will help intensify the sales of our agricultural equipment,” noted Andrei Kobyakov.

The Prime Minister also named as promising the bilateral cooperation in industry and trade in services, first of all in tourism.

The financial sector is viewed as another area of mutually beneficial partnership. “During Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko’s working visit to China an agreement was reached to open a representative office of China Development Bank in Belarus. I hope for your support. We will continue our work on the utilization of credit lines, the creation of investment funds,” said Andrei Kobyakov.

In his words, a proposal was made at the level of the two heads of state to mull over the creation of a mechanism of distant talks between Belarus and China. The Belarusian Premier invited Li Keqiang to consider a number of important issues related to the implementation of joint projects. “I believe that with the participation of the Prime Ministers these matters will be addressed quicker,” the Belarusian head of government said.
