Belarus, Pakistan to boost regional cooperation

ISLAMABAD, 5 October (BelTA) – Belarus and Pakistan will boost regional cooperation, reads the joint statement of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif issued after the official talks on 5 October, BelTA has learned.

The leaders showed interest in the development of mutually beneficial cooperation between ministries, strengthening of direct ties between small and medium-sized businesses, and establishment of joint ventures in Belarus and Pakistan in manufacturing industry, agriculture (production of meat and dairy products, fruit and vegetables), light industry, pharmaceutics, and forestry.

The document also reads that the parties support the development of interregional ties which are an important component of bilateral relations. The leaders stressed the need for more frequent mutual visits, implementation of joint cooperation programs at the level of regions, and participation in regional trade shows, fairs, and cultural events.

Alexander Lukashenko thanked Nawaz Sharif and the people of Pakistan for the warm welcome and hospitality, and invited the Prime Minister to visit Belarus at any time convenient to him. The invitation was accepted with gratitude. The dates of the visit will be agreed upon through diplomatic channels.
