MINSK, 26 June (BelTA) – The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) have outlined a cooperation framework in exchange trade, BUCE’s press service told BelTA.
BUCE and OCCI agreed to cooperate on developing exchange trade between Belarus and the Sultanate of Oman. Special attention will be given to increasing exports of Belarusian products to the Omani market, with dairy products and sawn timber identified as priority commodity categories. These goods traditionally enjoy high demand in Middle Eastern countries and are regularly supplied abroad through the exchange platform. In addition, the Belarusian side expressed interest in organizing imports of Omani goods using the exchange mechanism. This will provide Belarusian enterprises with simplified access to Omani suppliers and help strengthen trade and business ties between the two countries.
For its part, the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry confirmed its readiness to assist BUCE in attracting Omani businesses, primarily chamber members, to participate in exchange trading. This will help expand the pool of buyers and sellers from Oman and increase the efficiency of exchange transactions through a higher concentration of supply and demand.
An important element of cooperation between BUCE and OCCI will be the organization of a joint exchange seminar, planned either in person or online. The event will focus on the specifics of the Belarusian exchange market, the capabilities of the BUCE platform, and the prospects for developing trade and economic relations between Belarus and Oman.
“Partnership with the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry will undoubtedly make it easier for us to inform local business circles about the potential of the exchange platform and its tools. We expect active participation of Omani companies in exchange trading and are confident that joint events, including the upcoming seminar, will help unlock the full range of exchange trade opportunities for businesses in both countries,” emphasized Yaroslav Kovalchuk, Head of BUCE’s Foreign Economic Activity Department.
“Cooperation with BUCE opens new horizons for Omani entrepreneurs. We are interested in expanding the presence of Belarusian goods in our market and are ready to actively support the involvement of our chamber members in exchange trading. The joint seminar will be a good platform for sharing experience and establishing long-term business contacts,” noted OCCI Board Member Mustafa Ahmed Salman.
Two residents of the Sultanate of Oman are accredited on BUCE. This year, the entire volume of their exchange transactions consisted of purchases of Belarusian skimmed milk powder.
