Belarus, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast mull over cooperation in pharmaceutics, engineering

MINSK, 3 April (BelTA) – The Belarus-Nizhny Novgorod Oblast Business Cooperation Council met in Minsk on 3 April to discuss the cooperation prospects in pharmaceutics, machine-tool and instrument engineering, BelTA has learned.

Opening the meeting Vice Premier of Belarus Vladimir Semashko said that the agenda includes plans for the next five years. He named the main areas where Belarus and Nizhny Novgorod Oblast may be useful to each other: agriculture, industry, infrastructure projects.

According to Vladimir Semashko, in 2018 Nizhny Novgorod will be among Russian cities that are to host the FIFA World Cup. Belarus is ready to help in the preparations for this big sport vent. “Belarus is ready to take up any infrastructure object on a tender basis,” Vladimir Semashko said.

Nizhny Novgorod Oblast Governor Valery Shantsev stressed for his part that Belarus and Russia should attach more attention to import replacement. He suggested uniting the efforts in machine-tool and instrument engineering and pharmaceutics. “These are the areas that need momentum for their production development. We need to use every scheme to support our producers. Mutually beneficial models of supplies of goods, component parts and end-use products are a theme that should be developed separately,” Valery Shantsev said. According to the Russian Governor, it is necessary to strengthen cooperation in scientific research and commercialization of intellectual property.

In 2014 the trade between Belarus and Nizhny Novgorod Oblast totaled trade between Belarus and Nizhny Novgorod Oblast . The parties expressed confidence that it could be increased through the expansion of all-round cooperation.
