Belarus, Moldova get rid of trucking permits

Belarus, Moldova get rid of trucking permits

MINSK, 15 May (BelTA) – Belarus and Moldova have signed a protocol on amending and expanding the intergovernmental agreement on international transportation by road of 9 April 1994, the press service of the Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry told BelTA.

The amendments are designed to enable all kinds of international transportation of passengers and cargoes by road without permits. The protocol will create additional positive prerequisites for increasing the volume of business of Belarusian forwarding companies in the direction of Moldova and the countries Moldova borders on. It will contribute to increasing the volume of export of automobile transportation services.

The protocol was signed in Minsk on 15 May by Belarusian First Deputy Transport and Communications Minister Aleksei Lyakhnovich and State Secretary of the Moldovan Economy and Infrastructure Ministry Serghei Bucataru. Aleksei Lyakhnovich noted that Moldova is one of the first few countries Belarus has signed such a document with.

In turn, Serghei Bucataru stressed that Belarus is one of Moldova’s most important partners because it is in the CIS top five countries Moldova enjoys tight cooperation with. “Virtually all the trade is carried by trucking companies, this is why the liberalization of transportation is very important for us. It will have a positive effect on both economies,” he added.
