Belarus, Moldova agree to expand cooperation

CHISINAU, 14 September (BelTA) – At a business forum in Chisinau on 13 September the companies of Belarus and Moldova agreed to expand cooperation and implement new joint projects, BelTA learned from the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Moldova.

Attending the event was President of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Moldova Sergiu Harea, representatives of the Belarusian embassy in Moldova, First Deputy Head of the Main Trade and Service Department of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee Galina Gorbachevskaya, heads of ten Belarusian companies and almost 35 Moldavian enterprises.

The event organized by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Moldova was aimed at intensifying the Belarusian-Moldavian economic ties, seeking opportunities for mutual advancement of goods and services, identifying joint business doing sources, establishing direct business contacts.

The president of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Moldova noted during the forum that five business meetings with Belarusian delegations had been held since the start of the year. Sergiu Harea stressed that Moldova and Belarus have been steadily developing their trade and economic relations. In October 2016 Chisinau hosted a meeting of the Belarusian-Moldavian intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation and a business forum that featured nearly 30 representatives of the Belarusian business community and more than 100 businessmen of Moldova.

Earlier this year the Belarusian delegation attended the national exposition Made in Moldova. Another joint business forum was organized as well. Moldavian companies took part in the exhibition Spring in Gomel. Twenty-three companies from Moldova brought the Made in Moldova stand to the Belagro expo in Minsk. The head of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Moldova expressed hope that the current event would further promote Belarus-Moldova cooperation.

Galina Gorbachevskaya thanked the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Moldova for the organization of the Belarusian-Moldavian business forum and stated that the major goal of the visit of the Belarusian businessmen to Moldova is to find new partners. She stressed that Belarus is interested in the supplies of Moldavian raw material and fresh fruit (apples ad grapes in the first place).

According to counselor on trade and economic matters at the Belarusian embassy in Moldova Vladimir Kozlovsky, the business forum will promote the development of bilateral relations, while the Belarusian embassy in Chisinau will always support such events and will assist the trade growth and the implementation of new projects.

The business forum in Chisinau was attended by representatives of the Gomel Office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Tabakvintorg, Sakhartorg, Sozh Trading House, Belorusneft-Osobino and others.
