Belarus may join infrastructure projects in Australia

MINSK, 3 May (BelTA) – The possibility of Belarus’ participation in infrastructure projects in Australia was discussed during the visit of Roman Sobolev, the Director of the Department for Foreign Economic Activity of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Andrei Grinkevich, the Head of Asia, Australia and Oceania Department, to Canberra, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On 2 and 3 May, the Belarusian officials met with representatives of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development, the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade), the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the National Farmers’ Federation, and the Minerals Council of Australia.

“The Australian side was briefed on Belarus’ export potential and investment climate. The parties discussed ways to step up bilateral trade and economic cooperation, including through the participation of our country in infrastructure projects in Australia. Matters related to the process of Belarus’ accession to the WTO received special attention,” the press service said.

The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade hosted a meeting that discussed items on the bilateral political agenda and the prospects for contacts at different levels.
