Belarus looks into increasing supplies of farm equipment to Europe

MINSK, 15 May (BelTA) - Belarus is looking into the ways to increase the supplies of its agricultural equipment to the European market, Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Guryanov told media ahead of the ceremony to award the winners of the Exporter of the Year 2014 contest on 14 May, BelTA informs.

“We are in talks with European partners to expand the supplies of Belarusian agricultural vehicles as Russia does not import the amounts as it used to do before. We are also negotiating the ways to keep our positions on the Ukrainian market. We also have good prospects to advance to the market of Asia,” Alexander Guryanov noted.

In his words, as for exports Belarus continues overcoming the problems it faced in late 2014. “Markets are affected, including by decisions of so-called restrictive character. These are, first of all, economic barriers that emerged in the relations between Russia and the European Union. Here, we face additional control, additional requirements in respect to the products,” the deputy minister said.

Alexander Guryanov stressed that the physical volumes of Belarusian supplies abroad have remained almost intact, with a slight increase registered in some positions.

The Exporter of the Year contest has been held by the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry jointly with all stakeholders as a nationwide competition since 2006 (in 1991-2005 it was a contest run by the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry alone). The major goal of the contest is to promote the development of the export-oriented manufacturing, enhance the prestige of domestic producers on the international market, increase the volume, quality and competitive ability of the exported goods, works, and services. The winners of the Exporter of the Year 2014 were named in 18 nominations.
