Belarus kicks off Child and Youth Finance Week

MINSK, 9 March (BelTA) – The financial literacy week will take place in Belarus on 9-17 March, BelTA has learned.

The program of the week will include various educational events for children and the youth. On 9 March the Belarusian Currency and Stock Exchange will hold a solemn opening of tenders with the participation of children. In 2014 similar ceremonies were held at the currency and stock exchanges in 23 countries, including in New York, London and Brussels.

It is expected that the BRSM Youth Union will take part in the week as well. The National Bank and the BRSM will organize online talks on financial issues for the Belarusian youth with young people from different countries on 13 March. Organizers believe it will help attract the attention of young people from different countries to the theme of finances, share the experience in managing private savings. The event will be held at the educational establishments of Minsk.

The National Bank will host an economic student tournament on International Child and Youth Finance Day that is marked on 16 March.

A three-day financial literacy training for the academic staff of the Minsk educational establishments will be held after the financial literacy week. The training session will be held at the National Bank on 1-3 April.

International Child and Youth Finance Day was first marked in 2012 following an initiative of the non-for-profit Child and Youth Finance International organization (CYFI). The day was celebrated by 26 countries. The number of countries marking the day rose to 80 in 2013 and exceeded 100 in 2014. For Belarus International Child and Youth Finance Day is third this year.
