Belarus keen to see more stores selling Belarusian goods in Georgia
MINSK, 4 September (BelTA) - Belarus is keen to expand a network of stores in Georgia selling Belarusian goods, Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Rusy said as he met with Georgia’s Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mikheil Janelidze, BelTA has learned.
Mikhail Rusy noted that Minsk would like to see stores selling Georgian goods in Belarus. “We will create the conditions so that these stores sell as many Georgian goods as the country produces,” he said.
According to him, Belarus and Georgia may well reach $200 million in bilateral trade. “The goal is achievable. This year the growth is already 30%. The main thing is to keep the momentum,” he said.
Mikhail Rusy called cooperation in the field of agricultural engineering as promising. Belarusian manufacturers are ready to offer Georgia fodder and grain harvesters, tillage equipment, garden tractors. Belarus also manufactures modern trolleybuses and electric buses.
Belarusian experts are ready to share best practices with Georgian colleagues in seed potato growing, and to establish sugar supply. In turn, Georgia may supply Belarus with dried fruit, hazelnuts and other products. “We are ready to have Georgian wines or brandy produced in Belarus,” Mikhail Rusy added.
The vice premier believes that the two countries need to promote cooperation in the field of IT and to foster cultural exchange. He expressed appreciation to the Georgian side for organizing the Tbilisoba festival in Minsk on 2 September.
Mikheil Janelidze assured that Georgia appreciates the support of Belarus and intends to actively develop bilateral relations.
