Belarus, Iran to step up economic cooperation

MINSK, 21 February (BelTA) – Ways to step up trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Iran were discussed during a meeting between Belarusian Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Aleksei Bogdanov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Belarus Saeed Yari, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade (MART).

The parties talked over the topical issues of Belarusian-Iranian cooperation. "Cooperation between our countries has a significant potential, which has not been fully utilized. We are interested in actively working with Iran in all areas of mutual interest, and are also ready to consider new promising areas of joint activity," Aleksei Bogdanov noted.

pecial consideration was given to the need to further increase trade and economic cooperation, including through the expansion of export commodity range and the development of import-substituting manufacturing. Following the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the agreements reached, the press service noted.
