Belarus-Iran cooperation in investment projects seen as promising

MINSK, 13 March (BelTA) – Cooperation with Iran in investment and industrial projects holds great prospects, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich said as he met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Belarus Mostafa Oveisi, BelTA has learned.

Mikhail Myasnikovich said that the Belarusian side is set to implement projects within the framework of bilateral and multilateral cooperation. “With regard to bilateral cooperation, we are certainly interested in investment projects and industrial cooperation. Here we can implement many interesting ideas and approaches so that these projects benefit not only bilateral contacts but also our cooperation with companies of third countries,” he said.

The Speaker noted that he was satisfied with the results of the recent official visit of the Belarusian parliamentary delegation to Iran. “All themes, issues and projects, which were the subject of discussion during the meetings with the President of Iran, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, other officials receive support and will surely be implemented by the Belarusian side in accordance with the agreements,” Mikhail Myasnikovich said. He added that he was impressed with the constructive suggestions and ideas from the Iranian side on the possible participation of Belarus in transnational transport corridors North-South, West-East. It is expected to become the economic belt of cooperation, primarily infrastructure one, that will grow into commercial projects.

Mikhail Myasnikovich expressed hope that during his tenure in Belarus the Iranian Ambassador will open a new page in cooperation, all the more so since there are all conditions for that. “There is a political will of the authorities of our states to strengthen cooperation and expand it. There are many interesting projects,” he said.
