MINSK, 1 February (BelTA) – Belarus and Iran have agreed on steps to boost trade and economic ties and advance investment cooperation. The agreement was reached during the meeting between Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Valentin Rybakov and Iranian Deputy Minister of Industries, Mines and Trade, deputy co-chair of the joint Belarusian-Iranian commission for economic cooperation Valiollah Afkhami-Rad, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Valentin Rybakov is currently on a visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran from 31 January till 1 February.
The Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran for Asia, CIS and Pacific Affairs Ibrahim Rahimpour discussed ways to develop bilateral relations in politics, trade, economy, and investments. The parties talked over matters on the international agenda, regional security and the Belarusian-Iranian cooperation in the international arena.
A program of cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Iran for 2016-2018 was signed after the consultations.
Valentin Rybakov is expected to meet with Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Javad Zarif and Deputy Minister of Industries, Mines and Trade Mehdi Karbasian on 1 February. He will also attend meetings at the Iranian Agriculture Ministry and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
