Belarus interested in joint assembly plants with Turkey

MINSK, 14 February (BelTA) – Belarus has an interest in setting up joint assembly plants with Turkey, Belarusian Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said as he met with his Turkish counterpart Binali Yildirim on 14 February, BelTA has learned.

“We are interested in building joint assembly plants for Belarusian vehicles and equipment in Turkey and co-promoting our products in the region. Two large industrial companies, Gomselmash and Amkodor, have already started working on the establishment of assembly plants for combine harvesters, construction, utility, and special vehicles in Turkey,” the Belarusian PM stated. Belarus is now searching for a strategic partner in Turkey to co-produce BELARUS-branded tractors.

There are prospects for setting up joint ventures in Belarus to manufacture automobile components, furniture, home appliances, clothes, textile, construction materials, and agricultural products.

According to Andrei Kobyakov, Belarus can become a stepping stone for Turkey to tap into the Eurasian Economic Union. The country has the necessary logistics and industrial infrastructure and highly qualified specialists, he remarked.
