Belarus intends to branch out into Chinese sugar market

SLUTSK, 16 February (BelTA) – Belarus intends to branch out into the Chinese sugar market, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko noted as he met with employees of Slutsk Yeast Plant and Slutsk Sugar Plant on 16 February, BelTA has learned.

The president noted that China has opened its market to Belarusian meat and dairy products. Plans are to start deliveries of sugar there.

The president also touched upon the theme of the sale of Belarusian-made goods and market diversification. Referring to sugar exports, he noted that “the market is very saturated, and this drives down the prices”. With the competition high, some manufacturers resort to some dishonest methods.

Alexander Lukashenko said he decided to get familiar with the situation at the enterprise, to learn about its problems, and see the advanced technologies in action. According to the head of state, the Slutsk Sugar Plant is the best sugar producer in Belarus. “Your company is stronger than others,” he said.

The management of the enterprise, in turn, assured the president that all necessary measures are taken to promote sales.
