Belarus’ Industry Ministry, Gleason Corporation set to strengthen cooperation

MINSK, 2 February (BelTA) – The Belarusian Industry Ministry and Gleason Corporation, the world’s leading manufacturer of machine tools, have discussed ways to strengthen cooperation, BelTA learned from the press service of the ministry.

The Industry Ministry hosted the official meeting on 1 February. Belarusian First Deputy Industry Minister Gennady Svidersky and Gleason Corporation Vice President Ralf Nierlein discussed prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation. The parties considered investment project proposals, ways to step up cooperation and further steps to localize the production of Gleason equipment and components at OAO Vistan and exchange personnel training practices.

Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ trademark) and Gleason Corporation signed a contract to supply four Gleason machine tools to the tune of over €3 million to Minsk Tractor Works.

A delegation of the Belarusian Industry Ministry led by Minister Vitaly Vovk met with John Perrotti, Chief Executive Officer of Gleason Corporation, at a Gleason-Pfauter factory in December 2016. The parties discussed general plans for cooperation. A delegation of Gleason representatives visited the machine tool industry enterprise Vistan in Vitebsk, Belarus.
