Belarus, India set to increase bilateral trade to $1bn by 2020

MINSK, 4 June (BelTA) - Belarus and India are set to increase the bilateral trade to $1 billion by 2020, Indian President Pranab Mukherjee said during the opening of the Belarusian-Indian Business Forum in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

The President of India stated that the bilateral trade is in many respects far below the potential of the two countries. Mr Pranab Mukherjee noted that he is quite optimistic: "We can raise the level of our trade to $1 billion by 2020.”

Belarus, India set to increase bilateral trade to $1bn by 2020The Indian leader expressed confidence that this level could be achieved if Belarus and India expand the range of products, increase the share of high technology, bolster ties in such areas as healthcare, IT, financial services, transport and logistics.

Belarus and India have signed a roadmap for cooperation. Mr Pranab Mukherjee drew attention that it is focused on economic and investment partnership, and also the cooperation in the field of technology.
