MINSK, 14 September (BelTA) – Belarus and India are considering setting up a joint assembly plant for tractor units, Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Vladimir Ulakhovich told a press briefing at BelTA’s press center commenting on the results of the Belarusian-Indian business forum on 14 September.

“There is a discussion underway over the establishment of an assembly plant for tractor units together with MAZ. India is also exploring our electric bus. Our string transport was displayed in the country. The SkyWay company presented it at the forum and drafted two memorandums. One of them is about the implementation of this transport project in an Indian sea port,” Vladimir Ulakhovich noted.

The BCCI chairman commended the progress in Belarus-India cooperation in pharmaceutics. “Three deals were sealed at the forum. Pharmaceutics is a very serious and important matter. Cooperation in this field will bring good results: it can help reduce the cost of and price for many medicines for citizens,” he said.

All in all, Belarusian companies signed 10 memorandums and agreements at the business forum held in New Delhi, India on 11 September. Attending the forum was a Belarusian delegation comprising members of the government, top executives of concerns, enterprises, and companies. Belarusian and Indian businessmen exchanged views on the prospects for cooperation in mechanical engineering, wood processing, petrochemistry, mining, pharmaceutics, biotechnologies, food industry, education, medicine, information technologies and services, trade, investment, export-import operations, finance, and infrastructure projects.
