MINSK, 3 November (BelTA) – 10.4 million tonnes of grain, including rapeseed and corn, have been harvested in Belarus so far, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.
“As of 3 November, a total of 10.4 million tonnes of grain, including rapeseed and corn, were cropped in Belarus. The regional breakdown is the following: Minsk Oblast – 2.572 million tonnes, Brest Oblast – 2.1 million tonnes, Grodno Oblast – 2.027 million tonnes, Mogilev Oblast – 1.338 million tonnes, Gomel Oblast – 1.303 million tonnes, and Vitebsk Oblast – 1.06 million tonnes,” the press service reported.
Belarus has harvested 95% of areas planted to grain and leguminous crops, including corn, which makes up 2,190,000 hectares. Average grain yield (including corn) is 42.9 centners per hectare which is 5 centners per hectare higher than last year’s level.
The harvest of flax straw totals 197,000 tonnes, with a yield that is 12.9 centners per hectare higher than the previous year.
Corn for silage and green fodder has been harvested from 98% of the area, which is 1 million hectares. Some 13.922 million tonnes of haylage (99% of the plan) and 19.212 million tonnes of silage (93% of the plan) have been prepared so far. Forage production has reached 9.506 million tonnes (95% of the target).
Sugar beet has been harvested from 86% of the area, which amounts to 92,000 hectares. The harvest has yielded 4.802 million tonnes of sugar beet. The yield is 41 centners per hectare higher than last year. To date, 77% of the harvested beets have been delivered to processing plants.
Nationwide, 186,000 tonnes of open-field vegetables have been harvested. The total sown area exceeds 8,000 hectares, with 93% of it cropped now.
Autumn ploughing has been carried out on 656,000 hectares, representing 46% of the target area of 1.432 million hectares.
