MINSK, 7 May (BelTA) – According to preliminary data, Belarus' gold and foreign exchange reserves amounted to $10.942 billion in equivalent as of 1 May 2025, BelTA learned from the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus.
Over April 2025, gold and foreign exchange reserves increased by $872.8 million (or 8.7%) after a previous increase of $662.3 million (or 7.04%) in March 2025.
The largest share in the structure of international reserve assets of Belarus is occupied by assets in foreign currency and monetary gold. According to the National Bank, the volume of foreign currency in reserves as of May 1 of this year amounted to $3.8203 billion, having increased by $513.1 million (by 15.5%) in April, the volume of monetary gold - $5.719 billion, having increased by $326.3 million (by 6%).
Gold and foreign exchange reserves are highly liquid assets that are under the control of government agencies. According to the targets of monetary policy, the volume of international reserve assets of Belarus by the end of 2025 should be at least $7.1 billion.
