Belarus given partner country status at Vietnam Expo 2016

MINSK, 13 April (BelTA) – Belarus has been given status of partner country at the 26th international trade fair Vietnam Expo 2016 which is underway in Hanoi from 13 to 16 April, BelTA learned from the company Belinterexpo of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The national pavilion in Hanoi showcases Belarus’ achievements in mechanical engineering, chemical and petrochemical industry, pharmaceutics, healthcare, science, education, food processing, and manufacture of potash fertilizers. Partaking in the expo are more than fifty Belarusian companies and enterprises occupying a total exhibition area of over 500 square meters.

The Belarusian delegation to the expo is headed by First Deputy Industry Minister Gennady Svidersky who attended the opening ceremony of Vietnam Expo 2016. Opportunities for business cooperation with Belarus were presented on 13 April. Attending the presentation were Gennady Svidersky, Belarusian Ambassador to Vietnam Valery Sadokho, Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Vyacheslav Bril, representatives of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Center of Marketing and Price Study, Belarusian enterprises, and Vietnamese businessmen.

Minsk Automobile Plant, Minsk Tractor Works, Belshina, and enterprises of Belgospishcheprom Concern are among the companies showcasing their products at the expo. They already export goods to Vietnam and have sales representatives there. A number of Belarusian companies consider the possibility of entering the market of Vietnam with the help of business contacts established during Vietnam Expo 2016.

The national pavilion of Belarus in Vietnam has been organized by the BCCI in cooperation with the Healthcare Ministry, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Industry Ministry, the Agriculture and Food Ministry, and others.

The Belarusian President visited Vietnam in December 2015. A joint program for cooperation in economy, science, education, and culture for 2016-2018 was signed during the visit. Belarus’ major exports to Vietnam include potash fertilizers, truck assembly kits, mine dump trucks, tires, tractors, bearings, metal products, and foodstuffs. Industrial cooperation is expanding. The first BelAZ vehicles assembled in Vietnam have been put into operation. Plans have been made to assemble Belarusian buses and dump trucks. Belarus imports from Vietnam communication devices, office equipment, seafood, rice, nuts, footwear, clothing, natural rubber, processed tropical fruits, tea, spices, coffee, and other products. Negotiations are underway to set up a joint enterprise to process and package Vietnamese coffee. Besides, the countries actively cooperate in tourism.
