Belarus, Germany discuss projects in energy, industry, digitalization

MINSK, 26 September (BelTA) - Belarus and Germany are discussing projects in energy, industry and digitalization, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy Ulrich Nussbaum told the media on the sidelines of the 10th German Economy Day in Belarus, BelTA has learned.

This is the first visit of the state secretary to Belarus with the aim to boost Belarusian-German cooperation. Ulrich Nussbaum met with Economy Minister Dmitry Krutoi on 26 September.

"Germany is interested in cooperation with Belarus. Today, we discussed the prospects for further cooperation in industry, energy, digitalization. No specific projects have been mentioned in the energy sector, but it is no secret that Germany is at the forefront of renewable energy, especially with regard to wind energy," Ulrich Nussbaum said.

"If we create a good basis for mutual understanding, I am sure we will be able to achieve a lot. Belarus should clearly show which sectors it would be interesting for it to cooperate. Our enterprises want to be long-term partners for Belarus,” he said.

According to Ulrich Nussbaum, he has a very good impression of Minsk. "People are very open and kind. Everything is very clean, especially when compared to Berlin. I am also impressed by the knowledge of my colleagues who I already met," he added.

The 10th German Economy Day in Belarus focuses on the topic "Trade, cooperation, investments - German-Belarusian economic relations". The goal of the event is to introduce the Belarusian business community to the areas of activities of German firms in Belarus, discuss topical issues of economic development and promote trade and economic relations, industrial ties and investment cooperation between enterprises of Belarus and Germany. The event brought together representatives of German and Belarusian enterprises and organizations, national and local authorities, as well as international organizations.
