Belarus, France mull over motor transportation agreement

MINSK, 19 June (BelTA) – Belarus and France plan to sign an intergovernmental agreement in international passenger and cargo motor transportation, BelTA learnt from the Embassy of Belarus in France.

The Belarusian delegation led by First Deputy Transport and Communications Minister of Belarus Yevgeny Rogachev paid a visit to France on 16-18 June. Belarusian representatives held talks with French Minister of Transport Alain Vidalies to talk over the need to conclude an intergovernmental agreement in international passenger and cargo motor transportation. Partaking in the talks was Belarus’ Ambassador to France Pavel Latushko and Director of the Aviation Department of the Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry Vladimir Kostin.

The French Minister of Transport praised the development of the Belarusian-French cooperation in air and rail transport, noting the relations between Belavia and Air France as a good example of cooperation. The parties discussed possible implementation of cooperation projects between Belarusian and French companies engaged in the transport sector and transport infrastructure development.

The Belarusian delegation also held talks with Head of State Guarantees Department at Coface insurance company Maelia Dufour to discuss possible guarantees of insurance coverage for loans allocated to implement infrastructure projects in Belarus. Apart from that, the Belarusian delegation held talks with the French company Vinci on the company’s possible participation in the implementation of projects aimed at the development of transport infrastructure of Belarus.

The Belarusian delegation visited the 51st international aviation salon in Le Bourget to hold talks with the French company Thales and a number of other salon participants.
