Belarus’ foreign trade prioritizes Russia, China as strategic partners

Belarus’ foreign trade prioritizes Russia, China as strategic partners

MINSK, 31 March (BelTA) – Belarus’ foreign trade prioritizes Russia and China as strategic partners. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement in his Address to the nation and the parliament on 31 March, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “In 2022 our merchandise export to Russia grew by 1.5 times to over $23 billion. The overall trade (goods and services) went beyond $50 billion.”

Achieving the status of all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership was a logical result of Belarus’ interaction with China. This level of partnership will help Belarus explore new promising avenues in all the key areas regardless of any external factors, Aleksandr Lukashenko stated.

The list of the products Belarus sells to China increases progressively as well as the volume of sales. “In 2022 alone our export nearly doubled to $1.6 billion. Chinese investments, technologies, and medicine have become part of our life. The number of companies residing in the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone exceeds 100,” the president pointed out.

In his words, thanks to Chinese support Belarus has created its first people’s car. The Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation has been commissioned as a manufacturing enterprise of the future.
