Belarus’ exposition on show at Agrofood expo in Nigeria

MINSK, 26 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian national exposition is on display at the international exhibition Agrofood which is running from 26-28 March in Lagos, Nigeria, BelTA learned from specialist of the foreign exhibitions department of the Belinterexpo company under the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Natalia Ivanovskaya.

Speaking at the opening ceremony was Belarus’ Ambassador to Nigeria Vyacheslav Bril. The event was attended by Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) Mojisola Christianah Adeyeye, Vice President of the Nigeria Agribusiness Group (NABG) Emmanuel Ijewere, Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Andrei Shakhanovich, Director of the Belinterexpo Company Evgeny Vvedensky.

The Belarusian exposition features more than 20 companies and organizations representing agricultural engineering, agricultural research, food products and food ingredients. A number of enterprises are already operating on the Nigerian market. Others expect to find business partners.

Minsk Tractor Works demonstrates a wide range of models and modifications of Belarus tractors with a capacity from 9 to 350 horsepower, designed to work in tropical climates. Tractors have an improved cooling system, and if necessary, the cabin can be replaced with a tent.

Bobruiskagromash offers the Nigerian market its machinery to apply organic and mineral fertilizers, equipment to stock and storage fodder, tractor trailers and semi-trailers, tillage equipment.
 
Minsk Automobile Plant displays vehicles designed for operation in hot climate. These are road trains for cargo transportation, haulers, and shuttle bus MAZ 131.

Gomselmash showcases grain and forage harvesters Palesse, and also cotton harvester HMP-1.8. Belagro Group introduces package solutions in the agricultural sector, providing farmers with multi-brand equipment, spare parts and after-sales service. Over the past year, Belagro has supplied Belarusian equipment to Ghana and Nigeria to the total amount of over $2 million.

Scientific, technical and innovative projects are on display at the collective stand of the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus. The exposition also showcases samples of high-tech products of subordinate institutes and scientific practical centers of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus: biological preparations for plant cultivation, animal husbandry, fish farming, environmental protection, and also scientific research results in the food industry.
The exhibition also presents projects of the Education Ministry and subordinate universities: resource and energy-saving technologies, technological processes for foundry, welding, powder metallurgy, as well as the latest technology in the food industry and veterinary medicine.

Primemilk features high-quality functional whey-based ingredients for the food and fodder industries.
 
The Nigerian-Belarusian business forum will take place on 27 March. The parties are expected to consider bilateral cooperation between Belarus and Nigeria, make presentations of the trade, economic and investment potential of the two countries, as well as Belarusian enterprises participating in the national exhibition. The event is organized by the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture.

Taking part in Agrofood are companies from 24 countries, including Germany, Italy, China, the Netherlands, Turkey, France and Switzerland.

Nigeria is the largest economy on the African continent in terms of GDP, which in 2017, according to the IMF, amounted to $375.8 billion, and also the largest country in terms of population (198.2 million people), and one of the richest places in natural resources on the African continent.

The Belarusian exposition was organized by the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The co-organizers are the Industry Ministry, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the State Science and Technology Committee, the Education Ministry, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Belgospishcheprom Concern, and oblast executive committees. The schedule for Belarusian exhibitions planned by Belinterexpo in 2019 includes 24 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe and America.
