Belarus’ export of dairy products to Pakistan up threefold in 2024

MINSK, 12 February (BelTA) - In 2024 Belarusian companies tripled the supplies of skimmed milk powder and whey to Pakistan. The figures were discussed during the talks between Belarusian Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Vadim Shagoyko and Pakistan's Federal Minister of Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, BelTA learned from the press service of the ministry.

It was noted during the meeting that the Pakistani delegation is interested in expanding bilateral cooperation with Belarus in agriculture and agro-industrial complex. In 2024, the trade of food and agricultural raw materials between the states increased by 36.5% compared to the level of 2023.

According to the ministry, Belarus’ main exports to Pakistan include baby food, namely cereal porridge. Last year the export of Belarusian milk and dairy products to Pakistan tripled. Those were the supplies of skimmed milk powder and whey.

“Belarusian producers plan to increase export supplies to Pakistan and expand the range of goods of mutual trade. There is an active bilateral work on certification, production and supply of veterinary vaccines of domestic production,” the ministry said. “The parties also discuss opportunities for cooperation in livestock breeding and fishery. Having considered cooperation areas in detail, the countries have made a number of decisions.”

According to earlier reports, trade between Belarus and Pakistan was steadily growing, rising 4.6% in 2024 to amount to $50.3 million. Over 70% of mutual trade is accounted for the products of industrial enterprises.
