Belarus expects more active dialogue on resumption of transport services in EAEU

Belarus expects more active dialogue on resumption of transport services in EAEU

MINSK, 4 December (BelTA) -  Belarus is looking forward to a more active dialogue on the resumption of transport services in the Eurasian Economic Union, which was limited due to the coronavirus pandemic, Belarus Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said at a videoconference meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council on 4 December, BelTA has learned.

"Given the experience already gained to contain the infection, I am looking forward to a more active dialogue between our ministries of healthcare, transport, and  other agencies concerned on the gradual resumption of transport services to facilitate business contacts and labor migration," said Roman Golovchenko.

The Belarusian head of government believes that the EAEU countries have been able to mitigate the impact of the pandemic-related shocks in large part thanks to joint efforts.

“In this difficult situation, our union has proved effective in the face of the sharp world deficits caused by the first wave of COVID-19. Through our agreed and operational decisions, we have been able to ensure not only the saturation of domestic markets with personal protective equipment, disinfectants but also to export them,” Roman Golovchenko said. According to the prime minister, timely decisions to support national consumer markets helped avoid a significant increase in prices for socially important goods.

Roman Golovchenko is confident that due to the pandemic the union will be working to assimilate digital technologies in various sectors as soon as possible.
