Belarus-Egypt roadmap of cooperation for 2018-2020 initialed

MINSK, 25 May (BelTA) – Belarus and Egypt have initialed the roadmap of cooperation for 2018-2020, Belarusian Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Minister Vladimir Koltovich told the media following the session of the Belarusian-Egyptian trade commission on 25 May, BelTA has learned.

“The Belarusian and Egyptian presidents have given instructions to work out a cooperation roadmap as soon as possible. These instructions have been carried out. Today we initialed the roadmap of cooperation to provide clear guidance for both sides within the next two years,” Vladimir Koltovich pointed out.

He recalled that a working group on industrial cooperation has been set up, too. Some Belarusian and Egyptian enterprises and agricultural, educational, and medical institutions have built productive relations.

In turn, Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Kabil remarked that Belarus and Egypt should aim at making their economic ties as strong as the political ones. “Over the last few months the countries have exchanged several delegations of business communities, organizations, and agencies. This proves that the sides are interested in developing cooperation,” Tarek Kabil underlined.

Belarus-Egypt trade made up $25.44 million in January-March 2017, up 292.9% from the same period of last year. Belarus had a trade surplus of $4.68 million. Belarus’ major exports are semi-finished products of non-alloy steel, tractors and tractor units, black metal wire, X-ray equipment, milk, condensed cream, and cream powder. Belarus traditionally imports from Egypt citrus fruits, fresh vegetables and fruits, medicines, and textile.
