Belarus eager to advance mutually beneficial cooperation with Moldova

MINSK, 26 April (BelTA) – Belarus intends to advance mutually beneficial cooperation with Moldova. Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov made the statement on 26 April as he met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Moldova to Belarus Gheorghe Hioara, whose term of office is nearing its end, BelTA has learned.

Andrei Kobyakov mentioned Gheorghe Hioara’s contribution to the advancement of Belarus-Moldova trade and economic relations. “We enjoy very kind and good relations with Moldova and the Moldovan nation. We expect our partnership to grow stronger with the arrival of the new ambassador,” said the prime minister.

Belarus-Moldova dialogue has been galvanized recently. “During a recent meeting the presidents agreed that your head of state will visit Belarus in mid-summer. We also look forward to the visit of your prime minister. We are going to discuss the matters that require the attention of prime ministers. After that a meeting of the heads of state will take place,” added the Belarusian head of government.

Andrei Kobyakov pointed out that Belarus and Moldova had successfully implemented a number of joint projects. Mechanical engineering is a case in point. “When I visited Moldova last year, a presentation of the modern buses, which are assembled in Moldova with assistance of Belarusian specialists, took place,” said Andrei Kobyakov. The export of Moldovan wines to Belarus develops dynamically. “It is important that we are not competitors, but partners that mutually complement each other,” stressed the prime minister.

In turn, Gheorghe Hioara mentioned Andrei Kobyakov’s contribution to the advancement of Belarus-Moldova relations and said he hopes the relations will grow stronger.
