Belarus, Cuba make decisions to boost trade relations

MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) – Belarus and Cuba have come up to joint decisions to promote trade relations, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said after his meeting with Cuban President Miguel Mario Diaz-Canel Bermudez in Minsk on 23 October, BelTA has learned.

“At present our commercial cooperation is limited by certain time factors which we have agreed to overcome as soon as possible. We have reached joint decisions that will help us take the bilateral trade onto a level of strategic partnership in the near future,” the head of state said.

“We can do it. No need to complain about any objective and subjective difficulties. They have been and will always be in Cuba, Belarus, and other countries. We are here to overcome these difficulties. We have agreed upon this with the president of Cuba,” the Belarusian leader said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized significant potential in bilateral cooperation and expressed readiness to assist its full implementation. “We hail the talks to be very fruitful. I am convinced that the agreements we have reached today will give a considerable boost to the Belarusian-Cuban partnership that has always developed in a mutually beneficial and constructive manner,” the head of state said.

The head of state also expressed gratitude for the invitation to visit Cuba. “I accept your invitation with great pleasure. As soon as we work out a roadmap for the near term and launch it, I will come to Havana to outline our further cooperation with you. You can count on Belarus. We are reliable partners. We have always been and will remain such for Cuba,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
