Belarus counts on closer economic ties with Austria, Switzerland, Albania

MINSK, 25 January (BelTA) – Belarus counts on the enhancement of economic ties with Austria, Switzerland, and Albania, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he accepted the credentials of foreign ambassadors on 25 January, BelTA has learned.

Addressing Ambassador of Austria to Belarus Bernd Alexander Bayerl, the Belarusian leader noted that the positive dynamic relations with Austria meet with national interests of Belarus. The President of Belarus expressed hope that the opening of the Embassy in Minsk will give a strong impetus to the mutually beneficial trade, economic, credit and investment contacts.

In spite of the stable development of contacts with Switzerland, according to the Belarusian head of state, there is a huge untapped potential of economic cooperation, and it is needed to step up efforts to use it in full. “We are still interested in the wider presence of the Swiss business in Belarus,” the Belarusian leader stressed, addressing Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to Belarus Andrej Motyl.

Accepting the credentials of Ambassador of Albania to Belarus (on concurrent) Arben Gazioni, Alexander Lukashenko pointed out Belarus’ readiness to enhance cooperation with Albania not only in culture, science and education but also in the manufacturing sector and agriculture. In his words, business cooperation between the two countries has very good prospects.
