Belarus, China to launch new contest of joint projects in science in 2021-2022

MINSK, 19 November (BelTA) - Belarus and China will launch a new contest of joint projects in ICT, medicine and pharmacy, biotechnology, engineering, new materials and agriculture in 2021-2022, Chairman of the Belarusian State Committee on Science and Technology Aleksandr Shumilin said at the third meeting of the commission on cooperation in science of the Belarusian-Chinese intergovernmental cooperation committee, BelTA learned from the press service of the State Committee on Science and Technology.

According to him, the parties plan to implement at least 40 joint projects within two years. "The priorities in science and technology in Belarus and China are in many ways the same. Therefore, we can say that we have a huge potential for implementing joint projects in a number of areas of mutual interest," said Alexander Shumilin.

He also noted that bilateral cooperation in science, technology and innovations has been significantly expanded in recent years. Following the first meeting of the commission the parties implemented 28 projects in microelectronics, optical and laser technologies, biotechnology, and new materials. Following the second meeting the number of projects increased by a quarter. The joint projects resulted in the design of high-performance equipment to manufacture medical goods of various purposes, cold supersonic spray modes and other devices.

A training testing center has been established at the joint institute of Belarusian State University and Dalian University of Technology. There is a joint research and education center in high technology set up by Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics and East China Research Institute of Computer Technology. The China-Belarus innovation center for industrial technology operate at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Academy of Sciences of Guangdong Province. Construction of the Belarusian-Chinese technopark complex in Changchun has been completed.
