MINSK, 5 November (BelTA) - A large-scale Belarusian-Chinese business forum will be held on 10 November via a video link, Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI) Vladimir Ulakhovich said at a ceremony to open the national exhibition at China International Import Expo, BelTA has learned.

"Despite the challenges and restrictions that are currently in place all over the world, we sincerely seek to continue and develop our strategic partnership and engagement with China. Unfortunately, the circumstances left us with no other opportunities but online ones. However, this challenge is faced by all other countries," the head of the BelCCI said.

Vladimir Ulakhovich stressed that the Chamber of Commerce and Industry did everything possible to ensure that Belarus’ virtual participation in China International Import Expo is as practical as possible. "This is not just an online catalog of Belarusian enterprises, but an opportunity for enterprises to work on this virtual platform as it has a functional element to communicate.

The Belarusian-Chinese business forum will be held on 10 November. Forum participants will discuss the development of trade and economic relations, cooperation prospects, the investment potential of the two countries, and also the ways to advance Belarusian products to the Chinese market,” the BelCCI chairman said.

Counselor for Trade and Economic Affairs of the Chinese embassy in Belarus Zhao Qiuyan said that amid the ongoing pandemic and the difficult situation in the world, economic globalization is facing serious challenges. “In such a difficult time, China, having overcome many difficulties, has opened its third import expo as planned. This large-scale event once again proves China’s readiness to share its huge market opportunities with all the countries,” she said.

According to the diplomat, the bilateral relations between Belarus and China are at a historically high level. “China is Belarus’ third largest trading partner. Belarus is an important partner for China. This is the third time Belarus has been taking part in the China International Import Expo. We are grateful to Belarus for such an interest and support. I am convinced that thanks to this expo more Chinese consumers start recognizing Belarus and its high-quality goods,”  Zhao Qiuyan said.
