Belarus, China keen to step up business missions, promote investment in agriculture

MINSK, 5 June (BelTA) - Belarus and China have agreed to step up business missions and promote investments in the agricultural sector, BelTA learned from the press service of the Agriculture and Food Ministry of Belarus.

Belarus’ Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Aleksandr Yakovchits held talks with President of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce and Animal By-Products (CFNA) Cao Derong. The meeting took place within the framework of the Belagro 2026 exhibition where the number of agreements reached runs into the hundreds. The parties discussed ways of deepening strategic partnership and expanding the presence of domestic products on the Asian market.

China confidently holds second place in the geography of Belarusian agricultural exports. Today, Belarus is the second largest supplier of rapeseed oil, the sixth largest supplier of whey, and the seventh largest supplier of frozen beef to China. A total of 193 domestic enterprises have been accredited with the specialized registry of the People's Republic of China. Wheat flour, gluten, sauces, baby food, and honey have been added to the list.

“We are aiming to move from simple trade to deep cooperation. We are ready not only to increase supplies of butter and canned meat but also to set up joint production facilities. In particular, we are considering projects for the production of ready-made pastes based on Belarusian beef and rapeseed oil, as well as attracting Chinese investments,” Aleksandr Yakovchits noted.

The parties agreed to step up the exchange of business missions and mutual participation in key exhibitions and to jointly promote investment initiatives.

“China and Belarus are strategic partners. We highly value the quality of your products: once someone in China tries Belarusian cheese or chocolate, they no longer want others. We will do everything possible to ensure that as many Chinese companies as possible begin cooperating with your enterprises,” Cao Derong emphasized.

The Chinese delegation toured the exhibitions of domestic enterprises at Belagro 2026 to assess the new product range and establish direct contacts with manufacturers.
