MINSK, 3 November (BelTA) – The National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB) and the European Commission (EC) plan to sign an agreement under the Twinning program, Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus Pavel Kallaur told the media on the sidelines of the KEF 2017 conference Foundations of the Future on 2 November, BelTA has learned.
“There is such a program, called Twinning. It is used by states that seek support from other countries, first of all, from their neighbors. We are working with the European Commission and are close to signing such an agreement. It can be the Deutsche Bundesbank,” Pavel Kallaur said. He added that the agreement can be signed in December 2017.
The NBRB head added that Lithuanian and Polish banks can take part in the project.
The EU’s Twinning aims to provide long-term (up to two years) technical support to the public administrations of the EU neighbors in harmonization with the EU legislation. The program determines the partner public administration of one of the EU states that uses its experience to provide assistance to the public administration of the EU neighbor in improving the national legislation taking into account the EU legal norms and enhancing the qualification of the personnel.
