MINSK, 13 August (BelTA) – Companies under the Belarusian State Concern for Oil and Chemistry (Belneftekhim Concern) are planning to expand their presence in China, Belneftekhim Concern Chairman Ilya Ikan said as he met with Belarus’ Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to China Aleksandr Chervyakov, BelTA learned from the concern’s press service.

“The petrochemical industry’s priority is to seek new partners while maintaining and expanding its foothold in China and we are steadily making progress,” emphasized Ilya Ikan. “Our enterprises already have successful experience in this direction. Now, we need to evaluate what has been achieved and outline future prospects.”

The parties noted that Belarus has an open, export-oriented economy, making trade expansion and efficiency absolute priorities. China stands as one of Belarus’ key strategic partners, second only to the Russian Federation. Thus, it is necessary to substantiate this high-level relationship with meaningful economic content.

Aleksandr Chervyakov expressed gratitude to Belneftekhim Concern for their cooperation and reaffirmed the embassy’s readiness to support Belarusian petrochemical producers in developing and strengthening mutually beneficial partnerships with Chinese counterparts.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Belneftekhim Concern, along with Naftan Director General Oleg Zhebin and Grodno Azot Director General Igor Lyashenko.
