Belarus, Afghanistan to draw up roadmap for bilateral cooperation

MINSK, 27 April (BelTA) - Belarus and Afghanistan will draw up a roadmap for bilateral cooperation. The matter was discussed in a meeting between Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei and Afghan Deputy Foreign Minister Hekmat Khalil Karzai in Beijing on 27 April, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs

“At the talks the ministers agreed on contacts in the near future in order to outline the joint priority actions of the two countries, which will form the basis of the roadmap for bilateral interaction,” informed the press service.

In addition, the parties discussed the prospects of implementation of the agreements reached by President Alexander Lukashenko and the Afghan leadership in Ufa in July 2015 and in Istanbul in April 2016.

Vladimir Makei is in Beijing on a working visit to attend the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

The Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) is a large regional forum on cooperation, security, economic growth and stability in Asia.

The meeting brings together 26 countries from Central and South-East Asia, the Middle East and North Africa. Observer status at the Conference has been granted to Belarus, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Lebanon, Malaysia, the United States of America, Ukraine, Philippines, and Japan.
