SHANGHAI, 6 November (BelTA) – Belarus’ national exposition at the eighth China International Import Expo (CIIE 2025) in Shanghai is a concrete manifestation of the dynamically developing all-weather and comprehensive Belarusian-Chinese strategic partnership, Bei Wenli, Director of the Belarusian Studies Center at East China Normal University, told BelTA on the sidelines of CIIE 2025.
“This is a significant event for Belarus-China cooperation. We fully support the further expansion of the cooperation with Belarus," the director said.
“It would be wonderful if more Belarusian goods, particularly everyday necessities and food products such as famous Belarusian dairy or confectionery, were supplied to the Chinese market. This would allow more Chinese citizens to literally taste the flavors of Belarusian daily life, which would become a very warm and concrete embodiment of our friendship," Bei Wenli noted.
He pointed out that interest in Belarus is very high in China. "The 14 Belarusian Studies Centers established across our country are a clear testament to this. Chinese scholars and the public are keenly interested both in Belarus' history and traditions and also its modern development, modernization achievements, contemporary art, and literature,” the director noted.
The folk music concerts at Belarus Pavilion during the previous editions of the Shanghai expo and the tour of the Belarusian National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater attracted large audiences. Similarly, an exhibition of works by contemporary young Belarusian artists in Shanghai drew numerous visitors,” Bei Wenli said.
He believes that the China International Import Expo will demonstrate the high level of attention and interest in the Belarusian exhibits. “This is all clear proof of the Chinese people's sincere affinity and growing interest in your country,” Bei Wenli said.
