Baranovichi Cotton Production Association plans to double exports to EU in 2016

BREST, 17 March (BelTA) - Baranovichi Cotton Production Association intends to double exports to the EU countries in 2016, General Director Ivan Turchak told reporters.

Baranovichi Cotton Production Association sells 70% of its output domestically and exports the rest, with Russia being the main sales market. In 2015 the Baranovichi company began to work actively with the countries of the European Union. Last year, the company’s exports to Europe increased 4 times and amounted to about $1 million. Home textiles are shipped to customers in Germany, Italy, Scandinavia, the Baltic states and Poland.

Baranovichi Cotton Production Association plans to restore exports to the level of the previous year. The task is to double exports to the EU. The company sees Poland, Italy and Scandinavia as the most promising markets. “We have done quite a lot. But we are also exploring other markets. Given the crisis, it is not easy to crack into new markets, but the prospects are there. Our main task is to search cheap resources for development,” Ivan Turchak said.

He added that competition is high in the textile business. To be successful, several things should be factored in, among them is logistics. “We see the territories within a radius of 1,500 - 2,000km from Baranovichi as our main market,” Ivan Turchak said.

The State Control Committee of Brest Oblast had a session on 17 March to discuss the performance of Baranovichi Cotton Production Association after the completion of the large-scale modernization.
