Balkan Peninsula to host second Croatia-Belarus economic forum 1-4 April

BREST, 31 March (BelTA) – The second Croatian-Belarusian economic forum will take place in Varazdin, Croatia on 1-4 April, BelTA learnt from deputy director general for foreign economic cooperation at the Brest office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Denis Nepsha.

The event will continue the first Belarusian-Croatian economic forum that was held in Brest in November 2014 and will focus on the development and strengthening of bilateral trade and economic cooperation. The program of the forum will include business matchmaking sessions with Croatian businessmen, meetings with representatives of government bodies and visits to companies and industrial zones.

A delegation of Brest businessmen led by Vice Governor Andrei Klets is leaving for the Balkan Peninsula on 31 March. The delegation will comprise representatives of the Brest City Hall, the administration of FEZ Brest, oblast companies.

Denis Nepsha took note of the mutual interest of the parties in cooperation in various areas. These areas include international forwarding, production and sale of equipment, household chemicals and bioadditives, cosmetic products, wood and metal working, civil engineering, oil refinery. The parties might discuss joint manufacturing, investment in production and other business contacts.

The first Belarusian-Croatian economic forum will add a new impetus to bilateral cooperation. Croatian businessmen have paid a visit to the oblast five times with concrete proposals. Thus, the private company Bernada-Adria, a producer of medical mattresses, has been registered in Brest after the first forum. Now the company is undergoing certification. Talks are underway with Croatian investors on the construction of a concert and exhibition hall in Brest. Croatian partners are studying the possibility of building a brick plant in Pruzhany District and opening manufacturing facilities in the free economic zone Brest.

According to Denis Nepsha, it is expected that an agreement on cooperation will be signed between FEZ Brest and a free economic zone in Varazdin as well as between the regional offices of the chambers of commerce and industry.
